Author and director Vasanthabalan makes his feature-length debut as director of the Tamil-language romantic psychological thriller Aneethi (2023). Vijay Krishna Kumar, Murugan Gnanavel, Varadharajan Manickam, and Vasanthabalan himself produce it under the label Urban Boyz Studios. Leading parts in the movie are played by Arjun Das and Dushara Vijayan.

Given that it is the production banner's first production, the movie was first announced in February 2021 under the provisional title Production No.1. The official title was disclosed in September. From February 2021 to May 2022, principal photography was conducted. Film and editing are done by A. M. Edwin Sakay and Ravikumar M, respectively, while the music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar.

On July 21, 2023, Aneethi was released in theaters. It was well-received by reviewers and became a sleeper smash at the box office.
